| The year is 2268. Humanity has reached all new heights as they've harnessed technology and science in a way that their predecessors in the previous centuries only dreamed. Flying cars and colonies on the Moon, Mars, and Venus are just a small glimpse of what they've done. With technology now self-sustaining and no longer requiring fossil fuels, the world is now no longer at risk of deterioration, and exploration to other planets is viewed simply as an extension of the real estate market. Efforts have begun to prepare the exploration of other parts of the Milky Way galaxy with talks of eventual departure to the Andromeda galaxy. Humanity has managed to extend their lives by decades, and they've even created true artificial intelligence. Beings that started off as rudimentary robotics now appear as realistic androids. While they still lack the ability to be considered the same as humans, androids have become a part of everyday life. The world has changed in more than just technology. The early part of the twenty-first century saw strife, famine, war, and rebellion cover the planet. Great governments and kingdoms collapsed under the pressure, and emerging from it came three large governments that now run the world: the North American Alliance, the Eurasian Union, and the Neo-Persian Empire. Strangely enough, this seemed to settle the world down, and once order was restored, technological advancement rapidly advanced. There was resistance, of course, but science became a new religion in itself. By the end of the twenty-first century, Earthling had reached toward the stars and pulled apart atoms. They had reached an almost utopic ideal. The Glass City, formerly known as Annapolis, Maryland, is considered by many the epitome of human civilization. The city was decimated in World War III and then build from the ground up again. The home of the latest innovations but also the heart of newer civil rights discussions, Glass City is where changes are on the verge of happening. Now, however, as humanity believes itself to be reaching its golden age of existence, something in the darkness has seen their light. Something that will threaten to consume humanity. Something that has its eye fixed on the Glass City. This game calls upon various science-fiction universes, focused heavily on world-building amidst storytelling. Inspiration from Bungie's Destiny, Asimov's Foundations, Bioware's Mass Effect, and so on play a vital role in this game's universe, and we try to take a little from each to create our own harmonious blend. | |
